Discovery Canyon was a big favorite for the kiddos when it got hot in Red Deer. It is close to the city and so fun, it has this man-made waterfall that turns into a windie river type thing that they floated down on tubes until it opens into a small pond with a sandy beach; where we built sand castles and sat in the sun eating poutine and ice cream cones!!
Daddy and his "crew" before he left for work, one nice thing about his work hours in the summer is that we could do some stuff in the mornings with him. He took them on many of the trails through out the city. They are gorgeous! everything is lush and green compared to yucky brown southern Alberta.
The City hall has these beautiful flower gardens, where we would have regular picnics and it was right next to the library where the kiddos and I would get some good books to keep us entertained when it would rain.
Gull Lake was a great getaway, warm water and beaches forever! you can wade out into it for a long time before it would get deeper than your thighs. Don't look at the fat whale in the background! that's not me!!JK.
This Summer was even better thanks to Ashley and her two little munchkins! It was nice to have company while we waited for the Dads to come home from working.
